With the growing popularity of spearfishing as a sport and tourist activity, the demand for specialized equipment, such as spearguns manufactured by Joints Spearfishing, has also increased. However, given the traditional manufacturing process, it became increasingly difficult to satisfy demand and meet delivery schedules.

To solve this problem, we aimed to incorporate some automation into the manufacturing process without losing the essence of the traditional techniques that make these harpoons a piece of art.

Using Computerized Numerical Control and Computer-Aided Manufacturing, we were able to speed up the manufacturing process considerably, automating the roughing of wood stock, where a CNC machine removes the material to obtain the base shape of the harpoon to be later carved by hand for the final form.

This way, the long and tedious process of roughing the piece is done automatically, allowing the artisan to focus only on the handmade details that make the harpoon a unique product.

Today, Joints Spearfishing continues the legacy of the inventors behind the famous Tahitian speargun by making it available to people who share a passion for the sea and feel a strong connection to everything it has to offer.
